The
project, completed in 1996, centred around a new 300 seat
worship space and included a new narthex and programme facilities
added to a 1970's church campus concept building. The project
evolved after various stages of review of expansion potential
on the church campus site.
Contemporary
in design, the exterior elevations used brick matching the
existing for the field and complementary lighter brick for
detailing. New roof lines picked up lines from the existing
building. The lower windows were sized to incorporate reworked
historic leaded glass panels. The interior reflects the congregation's
desire for a bright space, after worshipping many years in
a warehouse-like space designed to be the church hall. The
late Murray Ross was the partner-in- charge and design architect.
William Menzel worked on the design and produced the construction
documents. David Paine carried out construction review.
The
project was tendered.
