The refurbishing of the sanctuary was carried out in two phases. The first phase, completed in 1999, involved stripping the chancel of its fixed furnishings (except the organ console) and floor finishes. The platform structure was levelled and extended towards the sanctuary seating and provided with broad steps that could also be used as performance platforms. In order to enable access to the platform for the more infirm, the steps on either flank were constructed with a standard rise/run and handrails. The hardwood flooring enhanced the choral presentations and lightened the front of the sanctuary.

The second phase involved replacing the aged flooring throughout the sanctuary and narthex areas. As the walls had recently been repainted prior to our becoming involved, the new flooring had to compliment the selected paint colours. Commercial grade carpet and vinyl composition tile replaced the original linoleum and carpet and made good the areas where pews had been removed over the years. The carpet in the narthex was replaced with a more serviceable ceramic tile.

The renewed worship space with its more appropriate seating capacity, improved acoustics and adaptable, open chancel area has enhanced the acts of worship by the multiple congregations that continue to use the space.
