William
Menzel has enjoyed the privilege of working with churches and
church related organizations for over 25 years. His desire to
work with churches and God's people began while he was an architecture
student, culminating in his thesis project, a mixed-use redevelopment
of the diocesan offices. He began to develop his skills working
as a graduate associate, enjoying the mentoring of the partners
of Brown Beck & Ross Architects. There he became project architect
for projects ranging from numerous studies for churches responding
to Part 9: Retrofit of the Ontario Fire Code to many of the much
larger social housing projects. The story of his becoming the
Director of Practice of BB&R Architect dovetails nicely into
his developing passion for the ministries of God's people in their
various churches and agencies. He particularly enjoys working
with congregations having developed a renewed vision of their
mission, helping them to renew their facilities to suit their
ministries. For Mr. Menzel, church architecture is about strengthening
a community of God's people in its worship and ministries.
